Heart Matters

We can chose to seek the “best possible life” or surrender to gravity that pulls us down and ultimately affects our disposition, mood, state of mind, physical and mental health as well as relationships with others we encounter regularly.  For life to be “in balance” we must strive for mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.  This program and our focus on it will lead us into a healthly pattern on the journey of life rather than allowing outside circumstances in our world to dictate who we are and how we act. 

As I begin this blog, I speak from the perspective of my own life that includes both success and failure but most of all growth through experiences and through wise counsel including personal  relationships which have greatly impacted my life.  For instance, as a Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon,I have gained wisdom from mentors, colleagues,  nurses, patients and their families.  Each day is an adventure with life lying in balance – ie, life or death for those whom I am honored to care for.  Therefore, as I write this blog, I intend to share my perspectives from a life in medicine which incorporates a vast amount of experience in dealing with physical,mental, emotional and spiritual matters not only in the healthcare arena but in and through my own life struggles.

I have learned much and desire to interchange thoughts and ideas regarding what we deem to be most important in life.

  • Physical Health – exercise, nutrition, cardiovascular state, appearance, obesity, vitamins, dietary recommendations…
  • Mental Health – state of mind, focus, anxiety, depression, overload syndrome, apathy, personal peace, pyschiatric medications…

  • What barriers prevent you from living your preferred life?
  • What do you most long for to fulfill the emptiness that may be so prevalent in your life?
  • Who are you on the inside and does that match who you are on the outside?
  • What is trust, love?
  • What brings you joy and contentment?
  • Do you pursue goals?  are you driven to succeed?
  • What motivates, inspires you?
  • What hurts the most emotionally?
  • What are your passions?
  • What is your mission statement?
  • etc…
